Toxic Stress in Children: Is There a Silver Lining?

Last Sunday’s edition of The New York Times ran an article entitled “A Poverty Solution That Starts with a Hug”by Nicholas Kristof.  The article centers on the news that the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) has issued a policy statement based on two decades of scientific research: exposure to “toxic stress” on young children can damage them permanently.
